1. Check for rust or moisture at the air vents
If you find rust or moisture near the hot runner vent, it means internal condensation or possibly a broken water pipe. Humidity can cause a fatal short circuit to the heater. If the machine is not running year-round but is shut down at night or on weekends, the chances of condensation on the
injection mold increase.
You should have measured the resistance of the heater when you first started using it, and now is the time to measure it again and compare. If the resistance value fluctuates up or down by 10%, it is time to consider replacing the heater to ensure it does not fail at a critical point in the production process. If the initial resistance value was never measured, measure it now and use the resulting value as reference data for future inspections of the heater.
2. Look for signs of wear between the guide pillar and the guide bushing, and look for scrapes, scrapes, etc.
This wear is due to a lack of lubrication. If the marks have only just appeared, then you can still extend the life of the guide pillar and bushing by lubricating them more. If the wear is severe, it is time to replace the part with a new one. Otherwise, the cavity and core parts may not fit well, resulting in inconsistent cavity wall thickness.
3. Check the water flow
Connect a hose at the outlet of the water line and let the water stay in the barrel through the hose. If the water flow is not clear or has a color, rust may be present, and poor water flow means a blockage somewhere.
If you find these problems, drill through all the hoses again to ensure that they are clear (or clean them by whatever method you most often use). Improving your plant's water treatment system can prevent future problems caused by rust and clogs.
4. Injection mold cleaning ejector pins
For a year, ejector pins can become dirty due to gas buildup and film-like impurities. It is recommended to clean it well with a mold cleaner every six to twelve months. After cleaning, apply a layer of lubricant to the ejector pin to prevent scuffing or breakage.
